Hi darlings, and welcome to my first beauty post of 2016- and having said that, I think my first dedicated beauty post ever?! I’ve discovered that I’m quite a fussy blogger, and it’s taken me a while to fully fall in love with something enough to share it in my pretty little space that is my blog. But it’s safe to say I’m head over heels for the new Rosie for Autograph makeup line.
When I heard Rosie Huntington-Whitely was bringing out a line, I couldn’t wait to try it. I’ve idolised her since I was fifteen; she is naturally the perfect kind of beautiful and has the career of dreams. And her new line is just as perfect- in fact I’m almost gutted, as if I were to have my own makeup line, this is JUST how I’d want it to be. To begin with, the packaging is beyond gorgeous. Everything is rose gold and engraved; wonderfully instagramable and displayable, with a real luxury feel, therefore fulfilling my lust and longing for Charlotte Tilbury without leaving me bankrupt. Packaged perfectly, and priced at a point that I would call “high-end” yet still accessible, more along the same price points as Mac rather than Chanel or YSL, Rosie’s products are the perfect balance of owning something that feels really special and lovely, without having to also feel really guilty that you just spent forty pounds on a bronzer. In fact, for such great product and such luxury packaging, I’m actually really impressed they’ve managed to keep the prices as low as they have.
I’ll start with the lipsticks. I’m beyond impressed and these beauties have earned a permanent spot in my makeup bag. With twelve beautiful shades from pinky nudes to deep rosy shades through to classic reds to choose from, you will seriously be stuck for choice and want to buy all of them, as they are all such pretty, wearable colours. From left to right, (top to bottom on swatches) I own the shades Nude Mink, Nude Blush, Silk Cami and Lady Rose. All absolutely gorgeous, ultra wearable, wonderfully feminine shades. And the formula of these lipsticks are perfect, and I mean literally spot on. They are incredibly soft and creamy, with an amazing colour payoff. They are very, very similar to the Mac cremesheen lipsticks, they even have the same smell (creme eggs!) but even BETTER pigmentation. They are enriched with Argan oil so are really moisturising on the lips and nice to wear, and the colour lasts a pretty long time too. Honestly, these lipsticks have quickly become one of my favourites and I wasn’t necessarily expecting them to. With the gorgeous rose gold packaging and a magnetic clasp, these lipsticks are truly perfect, I’m SO impressed.
Next, I have the bronzer in ‘Bronzed Beauty’, the Starstruck Highlighter and the Rose Bud highlighter powder. I love to contour, and I am the highlighting queen so I was so excited to try these out. I was so happy to see that the bronzer is a soft matte tone with no shimmer, perfect for contouring. I’ve yet to find a bronzer that has torn me away from my beloved Benefit Hoola bronzer, and though I will always stay faithful to Hoola, Rosie’s bronzer has to be a pretty strong contender. I love the soft, silky texture that it has, super blendable and looks really natural on the skin. And the compact is amazing- slimline and surprisingly lightweight, perfect for makeup bags, with a perfectly sized mirror. And rose gold. Obvs.
The Starstruck highlighter is the product of dreams. I adore cream stick highlighters- it’s become my favourite way to highlight so I was really excited to see one in the collection. It is the prettiest pearly colour, fairly neutral but with a hint of pink- what I like to call a pink champagne colour. Another really silky smooth, blendable product that again highly contends with my forever favourite cream stick highlighter, Benefit Watts Up. I apply this on the high points of my cheek bones, my brow bones and down the bridge of my nose, and it gives me the prettiest natural radiant glow. The highlighter powder is equally lovely. I confess I have never actually used a loose powder highlight, whenever I use a powder it is always pressed, so I was really looking forward to trying this. The powder is super, super fine, which feels lovely to apply and gives it that real high end feel. A little goes a very long way and it looks stunning on the skin. The powder looks more glamorous and less natural than the cream, so it’s a perfect way to go from a daytime to evening look.
Then finally, I have this beauuuuuut little eyeshadow quad palette. This is “I Feel Like a Million Dollars”, but there are four to choose from each with beautifully matched, wearable shades, so it was really hard to choose, and I am certain I will be going back to pick up another very soon! Each palette is really versatile, perfect for daytime and evening looks, with a mix of pearl and matte shades. They have a gorgeous creamy texture, and are not overly pigmented, which some people see as a negative, but I much prefer a buildable product to give me more precision and room for mistakes. And can we appreciate how seriously stunning these shades are? I can’t get over them. They are so feminine and pretty, yet still sexy and sultry. It’s also a perfect on the go palette, again with lovely slimline and lightweight packaging, and four gorgeous easy to wear shades to create the perfect sophisticated eye look.
Overall as you can probably tell, I am beyond impressed with the collection. And I’ve only tried a fraction; there are cream blushes, cream eyeshadow sticks, eyeliners, mascaras, lip glosses and so much more. I can’t believe how complete the line is- you could use entirely Rosie products on your face and have a complete look. When most celebrities release a makeup collection there are only a few select products. Also, the ‘celebrity’ products I’ve tried in the past can be pretty poor. It seems to be more of a gimmick, like they are creating something just so it has their name on it, not to actually create a great product. And I half expected the same from Rosie’s line- I wanted to try it as the packaging was gorgeous and I love Rosie HW and her look. But that really isn’t the case here. These products are fantastic, and I rate them highly alongside high end, big brand products I use regularly. They work brilliantly, they are packaged beautifully and priced fairly, and I can see them becoming some of my favourite products. Well done Rosie and M&S!
I hope you enjoyed this review, and do comment if you have tried any of the line and let me know your thoughts and recommendations! You can shop all of the products I mentioned below, or shop the complete collection by clicking here.
